Real-time Light Installation
Lumen
Eight LED tubes as a single instrument: a real-time light installation in which linear fixtures become architectural material through rhythm, movement, and timing.
Eight lines, one field
The brief: build animations for eight LED tubes in TouchDesigner. Rather than cue each fixture in isolation, I treated the set as one spatial field: intensity, timing, and transitions choreographed across the array so the tubes read as a composition, not eight separate channels.

Light as architecture
The work asks how light can behave as dynamic architectural material. Simple linear elements shift into evolving spatial compositions: depth through staggered timing, balance through repetition, presence through how the field moves rather than what any single tube displays. Animations follow the sound: visual rhythm locked to the track instead of free-running loops.

Procedural system in TouchDesigner
The full lighting system was programmed in TouchDesigner as procedural sequences: synchronized patterns across the eight tubes with precise control over intensity, timing, and transitions. Working procedurally instead of fixed cue lists keeps the relationship between fixtures flexible: patterns, sync, and spatial relationships can be retuned for another layout or a live performance without rebuilding from scratch.

Minimal lines, expressive field
The result is a minimalist light piece: eight led tubes, sound-led motion, and a field that keeps recomposing. Through choreographed rhythm and movement, the installation emphasizes depth, repetition, and visual balance: linear hardware turned into an expressive medium.
